Ridgefield led Darien, the top-team in the Connecticut and ranked 8th in the DigitalSports’ National Lacrosse Rankings, 8-6 at the close of the third quarter, just two days after the Tigers lost a 14-13 heartbreaker to Greenwich.
Much to Ridgefield’s despair, the Blue Wave turned it up in the fourth, scoring the quarter’s opening four goals. Ridgefield got a goal back with less than three minutes to play, but failed to convert on a tying goal, dropping the game 10-9.
Riley Stewart led Darien with three goals, followed up by the two goals of Colin Minicus.
Ridgefield’s Schuyler Blair led all scorers with four goals to accompany his assist.
Now 6-0 on the year, Darien advances to a 29-game win streak, spurring from last year’s 23-0, Class M state championship season. The Blue Wave faces its next challenger, Fairfield-Warde, on April 27.
At 4-2, Ridgefield rank 28th in the nation and fourth in the state. The Tigers look to get back on the winning side of the game on April 25 against Medfield.
